Corruption has become a “virus” in the Mahama administration, a group called NPP Loyal Ladies has said, warning Ghanaians that four more years for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and President John Mahama will be tantamount to gifting them another four-year term to plunder public funds.

The group, which is a wing of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), said in a statement co-signed by Asamani Mercy, Perpetual Lomokie and Awurama Kwarteng that: “Under the lamentable stewardship of President Mahama, Ghanaians have undergone the iniquities of ‘dumsor’, rising cost of living, unemployment, deterioration in quality of health care, a sharp fall in the standard of education and abysmal infrastructural development amongst other tribulations. Underpinning these iniquities is the canker of corruption which has infected the institutions of government like a virus.”

Below is the group’s full statement

Securing the future of the Ghanaian youth:.

The Loyal ladies of the NPP would like to thank the teaming youth of Ghana who have joined its fold to campaign to change the hopeless direction our country is heading under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.

Under the lamentable stewardship of President Mahama, Ghanaians have undergone the iniquities of dumsor, rising cost of living, unemployment, deterioration in quality health care, a sharp fall in the standard of education and abysmal infrastructural development amongst other tribulations. Underpinning these iniquities is the canker of corruption which has infected the institutions of government like a virus.

A fog of despondency and despair has settled over the nation. In place of optimism is pessimism. Where there should be harmony, there is discord. In this environment, it is no surprise to see majority of the youth who happen to be the future of the country lack an interest in politics and as such, have largely being disengaged from all things political. Though understandable, disengagement is not the answer. President Mahama and the NDC have beggared the country whilst he and his corrupt cronies have enriched themselves off the fat of the land, squandering our inheritance in the process instead of ensuring a sustainable future for forthcoming generations. President Mahama has failed the youth of this country and the entire nation including generations unborn.

As Edith Brown Weiss writes, sustainable development rests on a commitment to equity with future generations, however, come 2016 election, President Mahama would have left the country in a worse situation than when he found it. It is thus the patriotic duty of all Ghanaians, especially the youth, to actively oppose the President Mahama-led NDC administration at all cost since they are the bane of the nation’s ills.

Again, Under the NDC, there has been governmental failure in the provision of employment and quality educational infrastructure that [push] the success of the youth. Unless you are from a moneyed family or well connected with the movers and shakers of the NDC, social mobility is to all extents and purposes, non-existent.

It is a travesty that hordes of young men and women, in 2016, are hawking all manner of miscellanies on the streets of our major cities just to make a living instead of being offered skills and training.

Thus, many young people see their future abroad because their home nation offers no hope of a decent future. In eight years of misrule, President Mahama has succeeded in not just taking the country backwards but has plunged the country into utmost hopelessness.

You are either with him or against him. For the matter is that binary.

If you care about your future, you must waste no time in opposing Mahama and his entire administration. Indeed, when the human body has cancer, no time is wasted in removing the offending tumor because failure to do so results in death. Similarly, failure to oppose Mahama or join any campaign to effect his removal is to allow the multiple cancers of corruption, mismanagement, graft, nepotism and cronyism to fester and grow, which will only damage YOUR future. It is your duty to oppose, protest and generally make life difficult for president Mahama and the NDC. President Mahama, knowing time is rapidly running out for his rotten regime, is using all means to try and bribe Ghanaians to giving him another four years. This, we the youth of Ghana must and should not allow to happen because, it will mean four more years of kleptocracy that will truly beggar our future.

We the Loyal ladies, call on every Ghanaian youth to arise for change to help save our dear nation and our future. Four more years for Mahama and the NDC only means four more years of unemployment due to a freeze on public sector recruitment and a private sector that cannot employ due to bad government economic policies such overburdening taxes, high inflation and interest rates, a deteriorating Health Care system and Mahama’s cancerous corrupt administration. A stitch in time, they say saves nine.

Thank you and may God bless our homeland Ghana
